The laserdisc set was the first attempt in the Alien franchise at making a deluxe edition of a movie for home media release. The extras were presented in the form of a slideshow with lots of text but there were photographs and video clips too. (An extended version of Aliens was broadcast on CBS in 1989 but it was heavily censored and many visual effects were unfinished).
